This module fosters the student's professional capabilities through a series of communication exercises and projects using the IT domain as the basis for reference topics. Through these assessments, students will build up the presentation, oral and written skills required for the workplace.

LO1 |
Demonstrate communication skills, required by the IS practitioner, on modern collaboration platforms applying collaborative activity (peer review) and constructive feedback. |
LO2 |
Demonstrate skills necessary for business and technology writing. |
LO3 |
Display IS consulting skills by conducting research in a contemporary area of IT and articulating the findings of this research in a quality poster, suitable for a trade/conference event. |
LO4 |
Use and leverage technology and selected apps used for communications, to contribute effectively and communicate within a team. |

Indicative Content |
Communications Topics
While topics such as formal communications methods and a wide variety of technical business report formats will be covered, lectures in this module will primarily focus on students developing their communication skills through presentations, group work and other exercises.

Knowledge Integration
Students will be exposed to a range of current IT topics via a weekly seminar series. Selected topics will be researched, where students will be required to disseminate these findings to a non-technical audience.

Communication & Presentation Skills
Harvard Referencing, minute taking, understanding the audience. Communication presentation tools, poster design. Meeting management, tender documents, Statement of Work, Specification Requirement documents, user manuals, User Test Specification documents, Request for Quote.
