Module Description: This module aims to look at developments in the area of talent management and employee engagement. The module will address workforce trends in a diverse global environment where employee relationships, wellbeing and company culture, principles and values are key in attracting and retaining talent.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Discuss the employment relationship, employee wellbeing and welfare, diversity, equality and CSR in the Tourism Industry
LO2 Appraise the importance of company culture, principles and values to this generation of talent in the Tourism Industry.
LO3 Apply the findings of Tourism Industry work force trends to talent acquisition, retention, and engagement.
LO4 Appraise the process of talent management in a global market within the context of a multigenerational workforce.
LO5 Evaluate the practices of performance and reward that are suggested best practice in the talent management and engagement landscape.

D & I-Diversity management, challenges of managing diversity, contribution to organisational success. Equality as a work in progress. Corporate social responsibility (CRS) ðhics.
Company Culture, Principles & Values in the Tourism Industry
Employer branding. Attracting & retaining Gen Z. Ethical principles and practices. The contribution of HR to effectively engaging people.
Workforce trends.
Work force trends in talent acquisition, retention, and engagement. Current and emerging trends that have the potential to impact the management of people in the Organisation. CIPD reports, industry reviews, guest lecture series.
Talent Management.
Globalization of talent, skills gaps & shortages. Multi-generational workforce. Challenges for talent management. Data Analytics, Big Data, Data mixing, Chat GPT.
Performance & Reward.
The components of performance management and the contribution that effective performance management and development systems can make to the achievement of organisational goals. Employee wellbeing as part of the HR strategy. The role of appraisal in performance management- Performance review- what’s measured improves. The use of technology. The key components of an effective total reward system- financial, non-financial and recognition. Personal & career growth wellness and wellbeing, work life balance aiming to satisfy and engage the current workforce. The relationship between reward & performance. Fair treatment in relation to pay. The impact of well devised reward management practices on talent acquisition, retention and engagement.
