Module Description: The module approaches a range of Fine Art disciplines incorporating; sculpture, painting, media, print, photography and performance amongst other media. Through a process of individual tutorials, group seminars and crits, this studio based module provides students with advanced research, material & discursive knowledge and skills to progress their individual fine art practice.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Identify relevant issues of conceptual concern in order to situate and position individual contemporary Fine Art practice.
LO2 Evidence advanced practical and technical skills showing an innovative approach to the use of a range of materials and resources relevant to their art practice.
LO3 Engage in advanced self directed primary and secondary research to support the development of their individual studio practice.
LO4 Effectively communicate ideas, research methodologies and proposed outcomes with peer-group & lecturing team.
LO5 Reflect on their own studio practice in order to deepen their individual enquiry and extend their critical knowledge, skill and competence.

Research Methodologies
Development of research methodology under supervision of the tutorial team within group and 1:1 tutorials, incorporating material processes, visual enquiry and theoretical analysis.
Conceptual development
Establish and develop a conceptual direction within their studio process and explore this through the identification of appropriate material investigations, explorations and resolutions.
Critical evaluation
Critical seminars & presentations to illustrate evidence of critical enquiry and how this has informed processes and decision making within their own studio practice.
Process
Advanced technical workshops and student research responsive instruction appropriate to individual studio practice.
Studio Practice
Student engagement with assigned studio space and a developed understanding of the role of the studio in a professional artist practice.
