Module Description: This module will enhance the student's knowledge of the hospitality industry and assist the student in developing interpersonal and professional skills to help guide and develop their future careers.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Identification of national and international hotel properties. Professional opportunities within different departments. Opportunities for development. Current industry trends and practices. Dealing with common scenarios in hospitality.
Career Planning
Taking charge of career planning. Identifying marketable skills. Creating CV's and professional online networking. Preparing for interviews.
Professional Etiquette
Understanding professional standards in the workplace, role of listening, presentation skills.
Reflective Practice
Role of observation and the reflective process - using critical thinking in decision making. How to use online portfolios. Role of self evaluation in the learning process. Experiential learning. Emotional intelligence. Coaching, mentoring and feedback.
Hospitality Leadership
Role of leadership. Leadership styles.

Assessment Description
Examination of a hospitality experience linked to the hospitality industry environment , this will include a reflective piece of work to include self-evaluation. This will take the format of a written piece of work to assist student in developing critical thinking and reflective practice skills. This project will be developed as an online portfolio.
