Indicative Content |
Production layout and flow
Types of Production; job, batch, flow, continuous. Types of layout; fixed, process, work cells, product orientated layout. Balanced product mix.

Production Planning and Control
Process measurement/Key Performance indications (KPI’s). Capacity Planning, Functions and type of inventory. Make or buy decisions. Cost Reduction, Ship to Stock, ship to WIP. Production schedules. Lead times. Customer requirements and service level agreements.

Benchmarking
Performance management, Choice of metrics, Benchmarking, What and who to benchmark against, Quality Awards, European Foundation for Business Quality (EFQM) process. Baldridge award. Case study.

Financial measurement
Performance indicators. Measurement bases; labour costs and sales. Managing costs; fixed and variable costs, Cost of WIP, Budgets.

Project Management
Critical path analysis, Predecessors, Project, Overview of the core project management knowledge areas: scope, time and cost management. Project Human Resource Management. Developing and Managing Project Teams. Project Communications Management
